As more universities begin taking advantage of external cloud services, realizing their elastic processing power and high flexibility, a shift is occurring, which will reinvent the paradigm in which universities deliver technology, information and media services. Many believe that cloud concepts will change and realign the role and focus of higher education IT functions. Cloud services offer unique opportunities to encourage collaborative activities that extend far beyond any one institution or individual. These services are being considered as a strategic element in technology planning and implementation. STC 2013 will be a venue where the evolution to various cloud services will be explored and discussed in an effort to identify how this emerging platform can best serve the students, faculty and staff of SUNY and Higher Ed. in general.
